As a photographer I know one of the best times to shoot photos is during the sunrise.
The light is more dramatic and it adds different elements to your photos.
It’s something you wont get if you were to shoot that same photo during midday.
But waking up at 3, 4, or 5 in morning to shoot photos takes a lot of debate with me.
During my time in Asia I passed on a lot of sunrise hikes.
Because honestly, sunrises don’t impress me.
I’ve hardly seen a sunrise worth waking up for.
I’m more of a sunset person.
Usually the colors of more diverse and… I’M ALREADY AWAKE FOR IT!
However, there was one hike I was ready and willing to tackle in the wee hours of the morning.
Hiking King Kong Hill to shoot photos of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in Indonesia.
Volcanoes sitting in a smoke-filled valley as the sunrise painted over them.
THAT sounded like something worth waking up early for.
Mount Bromo and the surrounding area of Cemoro Lawang ended up being one of my favorite spots in Indonesia.
It’s relaxing and it’s like being on another planet.
To read more about shooting photos of Mount Bromo you can Click THIS Link for the piece I did with SnapSpotz.com.
I explain when to leave, how to get there, and where to shoot from.
I also did another piece with SnapSpotz about shooting photos of Cemoro Lawang during sunrise.
You can read that one HERE.
Even though I hardly wake up for sunrise photos I’m usually never disappointed when I do.
And I should try to tell myself that more often.
But sometimes that pillow has a tight grip on me and it feels so good.
What are favorite sunrise photo locations?
